Volunteer may register with RMA from age 16 years onwards. A volunteer aged 16 or 17 years are classified as a Youth Volunteer and as such certain rules apply. Those younger than 16 years may also register as a volunteer with RMA, but must sign up with a parent or caregiver for all volunteer roles.
Youth Volunteers may sign up to volunteer with RMA in any role that involves an instructor or other adult volunteer being present. They may not sign up for volunteer roles where they would be the sole volunteer with an adaptive guests.
Youth Volunteers are exempt from applying for a Vulnerable Sector Check. Once the volunteer reaches the age of 18 years and is still interested in volunteer for RMA, they will need to apply for a Vulnerable Sector Check.
