Volunteer Types
General Volunteer: Volunteers for all types of activities advertised with the volunteer system: Better Impact. These volunteers may be at any volunteer level and may choose to volunteer for various volunteer postings, such as buddies, lesson assistance, events and more. They are required to follow all volunteer steps, including registration, vulnerable sector check and training sessions.
Lead Volunteer: Deemed by RMA to be a suitable leader to other volunteers, based on experience, performance, ambassadorship, and ability to lead. Applies to Gold Level + Volunteers. These volunteers have completed a 100+ volunteers hours, have worked for RMA in the past, or have displayed ongoing commitment to the growth of RMA.
Event Volunteer: A volunteer who only signs up to help with a fundraising event with RMA. These volunteers do not require a Vulnerable Sector Check if solely volunteering for an event (exceptions are when said volunteer is assisting an adaptive guest at an event.)
Private Volunteer: A volunteer who is connected to a particular adaptive guest and only volunteers with that person (and may volunteer with that individual within different activities outside of RMA). These volunteers may choose to register with RMA in order to receive a (complementary) volunteer ticket for Sunshine Village. In this case, private volunteers must follow the regular volunteer application process (register with RMA, submit a Vulnerable Sector Check, and take part in a winter training session – for liability purposes, these steps are mandatory).
