More Info

If you have signed up to be a volunteer with us, there are some things that are useful to know:

  • Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA) is a registered charity whose aim is to provide any individual with a disability the chance to access all sport and recreational activities in the Canadian Rockies. RMA aims to promote and develop opportunities in all sport and recreation in the area and to make these opportunities available to everyone.
  • RMA activities are offered in both the summer and winter months, including around 20 sport & recreational activities.
  • We look for volunteers in almost every activity we offer. Some activities require volunteers to be experienced, some do not.
  • For volunteers wishing to assist on our ski and snowboard programs, we recommend taking part in a CADS (Canadian Association of Disabled Skiing) Level 1 Certification Course. This course runs twice per season, and we will notify you of the dates on the Volunteer Calendar. This course is in no way mandatory for volunteers, however it does provide a good insight into aiding individuals of all abilities to ski, sit ski, and snowboard.
  • RMA does not require a minimum amount of days from our volunteers, only that you are willing to connect with our guests & other volunteers, assist them in their activities, and enjoy the outdoors.
  • We provide training to all volunteers. For both winter and summer seasons, this is provided at the start of the season on specific training days. Some training can be done the day of a volunteer shift if you have missed the training sessions.
  • We also look for volunteers to help with our fundraisers, with social media, bloggers, and to serve on our board.
  • Once you sign up as a volunteer, you will receive an email within 24 hours which will give you more information about volunteering with us.
  • All volunteers supporting participants are required to get an Vulnerable Sector Check. Once you are signed up as a volunteer, you will gain access to the letter which can be handed to your local RCMP/Police Station, and should be free for all volunteers.
  • An email will be sent to you before you volunteer role confirming the meeting time and place.
  • Better Impact does have a Mobile App for viewing volunteer opportunities. View and sign up for Volunteers opportunities on the go. Simple to use and a great way to keep up to date. Download Now.
  • We look forward to welcoming you to the RMA team and thank you in advance for donating your time! Please email us at volunteer@rockymountainadaptive.com with any questions you may have.
