About Us

Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA) is a registered charity whose aim is to provide any individual with a disability the chance to access all sport and recreational activities in the Canadian Rockies. We are an adaptive sports organisation that enables adults and children with physical, intellectual, cognitive, or developmental impairments to participate in the numerous sports and adventure activities available in the beautiful Bow Valley (Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise and surrounding areas). Our programs and activities are available to locals and to tourists from around the world.

The dream that became RMA started with adaptive ski lessons at Sunshine Village Ski Resort serving local children from Banff and Canmore. These lessons progressed into the development of the RMA 10-week Ski and Snowboard Program which now boasts over 40 participants. The program enriches the lives of local children and their families, some coming from as far as Edmonton.

The dream continued, and continues, to grow! Today we offer over 20 different sporting activities in the mountains amounting to over 2000 adaptive experiences a year! RMA’s Winter and Summer programs teach and empower children and adults with disAbilities to participate in many sports and recreational activities.

Our purpose is to promote and develop opportunities in all sports and recreation in the region. We aim to make these opportunities available to everyone. We have witnessed how participation in our programs has often become a wonderful catalyst for increasing the social aspects of equality and inclusion, and set a course for increased independence, self esteem, strength, coordination, mobility, health, and general well being.

Our Mission

To enable all children and adults with physical, developmental, and/or cognitive challenges to participate, learn, and excel in all sports and recreation activities in the Canadian Rockies. NO LIMITS!

To provide opportunities for our participants to strive and persevere to overcome any challenges that present themselves.

OUR MOTTO

NO LIMITS!

More than just a phrase, “NO LIMITS’ is the credo of many individuals with varying challenges. No matter what difficulties or obstacles lay in the way of achieving a goal, there is a determination and solutions to overcome them. RMA will aim to cultivate this philosophy and spread it to others that we meet and that use our services, as well as applying the same principle to the growth and development of our own organization.

Our Vision

“A world where there are no limits to adaptive mountain sport and recreation.”

We look forward to seeing you in the mountains soon.
